Smart Dog Dallas is an owner-operated doggie nirvana offering dog daycare, boarding, chauffeur, training and grooming services. We’re located right between Downtown Dallas and Historic Oak Cliff facing the beautiful Trinity River.

Smart Dog Dallas is celebrating our 10th year of service to the dog lovers of Dallas. We believe that dogs are social beings; we fulfill their desire to interact with humans and other dogs.

Schedule

  • Flexible Schedule
  • Full-Time:  36 – 40 hours
  • Morning Shift:  6:30am – 12pm or 6:30am – 2pm
  • Afternoon Shift:  11am – 7pm or 2pm – 7pm
  • Must have Holidays and Weekend availability

Pay Rate

  • Starting at $12-$14 / hour depending on experience.

Job Description

As the Front Desk Coordinator, you will be the first point of contact for Smart Dog Dallas welcoming customers, pet guests, and visitors. You are responsible to work with our team members and all customers to ensure the customer experience is set at the highest standards of customer satisfaction.

The main duties include checking in/out pet guests, sales of our services, and customer service.

We’re seeking a team player that is energetic, organized, self-motivated, takes direction well, trustworthy, has excellent communication skills and has great attention to detail. This person should love dogs and have patience.

IMPORTANT:  We need someone RELIABLE and ON TIME each day. We also want to ensure you have a reliable way to get to work.

Our dress code is casual but professional and appropriate for a dog daycare / boarding environment (e.g., khaki long pants, jeans or long shorts with dark-colored, pull-over t-shirt).

Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers (pet parents) and pet guests in a friendly, prompt and professional manner that walks in and out of Smart Dog Dallas.
  • Explains company and facility policies to customers in a positive manner.
  • Tours prospective customers and visitors through the facility.
  • Sells the services and products of the facility to prospective customers.
  • Ensures pet guests have the proper up-to-date vaccination records.
  • Answers phones, emails, and questions from pet parents and prospective customers in person and online in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Follow the check-in / check-out procedures for all guests and pet guests visiting the facility for any service provided by the facility.
  • Ensure the safety and security of our dogs.
  • Provide updates to customers requesting information about their pet.
  • Responsible for maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of the lobby, front desk area and other public areas.
  • Works with team to maintain and update cleaning schedule, along with holding self and team accountable to Smart Dog Dallas’ safety and cleaning standards.
  • Manages inventory of cleaning, dog, and first aid supplied.
  • Professional appearance in compliance with dress code.
  • Must have a professional tone and clear speaking voice and will be able to handle issues or complaints which may arise.
  • Responds to customer complaints in a professional, courteous manner and acts to satisfactorily resolve the problem; elevates to supervisor as needed.
  • Report and document (when applicable) to the supervisor any potential hazards or behavioral problems involving visitors, customers, pet guests or employees.
  • Review and maintain written and computer files, plus conduct data entry.
  • Utilizing the applicable software systems and standard office / business equipment.
  • Treats customers, guests, visitors and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Assists other team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skill Requirements

  • High school diploma is required. An associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university is preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially typing. Ability to type about 40 words per minute.
  • Excellent writing, grammar and spelling to write reports, correspondence, etc.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace (particularly Word/Google Docs and Excel/Google Sheets).

Qualifications

  • Love dogs and have patience.
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable. Have a strong work ethic.
  • Self-motivated team player; Confident and energetic personality.
  • Ability to take direction well and apply it independently.
  • Attention to detail and ability to observe animal behaviors daily.
  • Able to handle a variety of animals safely and comfortably.
  • Willing to learn animal behavior to ensure their safety.
  • Good teamwork and willingness to assist other departments as necessary.
  • Ability to resolve and troubleshoot unexpected problems quickly and professionally.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to create a positive working environment.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and multitask; work with minimal supervision.
  • Values learning, receptive to feedback, and strives for self-improvement.
  • Previous animal care experience is preferred but not required.
  • Customer Service and Administrative experience are a plus.
  • CPR Training / Certification is a plus.

Physical Qualifications

  • Must be able to work some weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
  • Must be alert and undistracted at all times since working with dogs can be unpredictable.
  • Must be physically able to handle dogs of all sizes and to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently.
  • Must be able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing and grasping.
  • Ability to tolerate being in close contact with various (dog) bodily fluids and to get dirty frequently.
  • Ability to work in distracting work environments such as loud noise / sound.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant / sanitation.

All of our positions require you to handle dogs daily so you’ll be able to learn valuable dog training skills every day you work.

We request you make a reservation for daycare as well as boarding to ensure we have a safe and manageable number of dogs. Asking at least 24 hours ahead is the best way to guarantee your spot. We understand that last minute needs occur and will do our best to work w/ “day of” reservations. In those situations, there may be a $10 fee assessed.
